summer break caught me by surprise.....I was very busy till the very last day of school, and then it was Oris' b day followed by a pneumonia (she is in good health now - no worries). The girls have voted against summer camps, which makes me - mom - a full time summer counselor, who is trying to do everything else she did before summer started. It took one day of severe tantrums (by me mostly) to understand that this is a serious job, not be taken lightly, and if I want this summer to be sane fun, I will need to get organised and come up with some sort of a plan.
To go along with that plan, we have started a daily diary, one that we’re all sharing. In that notebook we keep writing, mounting photos, drawings and whatever else comes to mind.
Only good things can come out from keeping a diary. For one - when summer ends, there will be no complains like: ”we haven't done anything this summer”. They will be able to look back at our book and remember all the things we have done. Not to mention the value of enhancing and encouraging creative activities like drawing, writing and photographing on a daily bases.
Oh’ and it is one activity you don't have to come up with, it can become part of the daily routine.
Can you argue with that?!
Now, go and get your own book, and start your family summer’s diary (preferably a drawing sketchbook the kind with no lines).
I wish you all a great summer
