We were walking down Euclid street in Santa Monica, my self pushing the stroller trying to get Ori to sleep, Pepsi our little Yorki barking at anything that moves keeping Ori from falling asleep, and Zoe who was very exited about taking pictures with her brand new digital camera she got from her friend Ilana the night before.
She was taking pictures of every flower and shrub along the way. She had decided she was going to documents “the beautiful flowers of Santa Monica”. When she ran out of memory, she asked to go back on that same NATURE WALK the next day so she can take pictures of the flowers she had missed on the other side of the street. I was smiling to my self, thinking, what happened to the definition of a nature walk as I know it, since when a walk down a city street became a nature walk?! Is my child turning into a city girl that suffers from a nature deficit disorder? Or is it me who can’t see beyond the built environment to find the nature that is such an important part of it, and not so often being recognized and appreciated.
